The Philippine Senate recently elected Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile (born February 14, 1924) as Senate President, adding fuel to the Enrile-is-old meme. Yet there are a number of living Filipino notables who are older than Enrile. Some, like Fr. James Reuter, have retired from public life but others such as Senator Jovito Salonga and Ambassador Alfonso Yuchengco are still quite active.

Additions to the list are welcome, just post at the comments section. For example, there is no known death date for boxer and 1932 Olympic medalist Jose Villanueva, he would be 97 today if he is still alive.

Hi, I just stumbled upon your page as I'm searching for the current oldest living civilian Filipino/a.
ReplyDeleteDo you happen to have this information? Where could I find this information?
I'm asking because my aunt in Laguna turned 100 years old last April 2011.
Thanks!
