Via the excellent NPR: Monkey See blog by Linda Holmes (formerly Miss Alli from Television Without Pity), recipes from the Great Depression demonstrated on YouTube by 93-year old Clara Cannucciari. The novelty is not only due to Ms. Cannucciari's age, but also because Depression-era cooking (i.e., ingredients foraged from the garbage dump) is, in this era of the New Great Depression, bound for a comeback as with all things 1930s. (Hugh Jackman/Bernadette Peters = the new Astaire/Rogers) A DVD compilation will be out soon and will probably sell well, unless people will have to pawn their DVD players in order to afford these meals thereby leading to a O.Henry dillemma with a technology twist.
